this is an interview of my friend who has completed his 3rd year (btech cse)
placed in infosys and has got the heighest package of 4.75lacs( being offered to a 3rd yr student frm punjab)
this wud really help the seniors seeking placement opportunities
7th Feb, 2008.
The day came for which we were waiting from the last 2.5 years. It was Infosys coming to our campus for the placements.
Aptitude test:
There was some kind of feeling inside us that we will easily exchange answers because the test was going to conduct in our campus. I thought, there will be some leniency but the situation was totally different.
Now when I got the paper (both verbal and logical), I quickly looked through the paper and started solving the questions that I was more confident.
The questions that I founded little difficult, I skipped those because in objective type papers we are not supposed to waste our time only on a single question.
One good thing that was in favor of us -there was no negative marking.
So I chose one option and marked all the questions with the same option.
8th Feb?.
I was going to be interviewed first. So I was little bit nervous but there was one thing in my mind that I have to crack the interview in any way.
At approximately 8.10 am
I knocked the door?
Me- May, I please come in.
Interviewer- just wait for 5 mins. I?ll call u.
Me- ok sir.
After 5 mins, he came outside and called me inside.
Interviewer- good morning puneet, hav a seat.
Me- thanks sir and very good morning.
Interviewer-ohk puneet, tell me abt ur family?
(Here I went wrong; I started with ?my name is puneet aggarwal. I belong to?).
He interrupted me here.)
Interviewer-I think I hav asked u abt Ur family. Ur details are with me.
Me- sorry sir. I belong to ferozepur. I am frm business oriented family. My mother is a home maker and I hav one younger brother. He is doing C.A from Chandigarh.
Interviewer- tell me more abt ur father?s business. From where he started and where he is right now. Explain me everything in detail.
(Here I continued for a long time. I did not stop anywhere. I wanted him to interrupt me?)
Interviewer-o.k. dats sufficient. Now u tell me abt urslf. What are your hobbies?
Me- I like listening Mr. Adnan Sami?s songs and I like?.
(I was about to list more of my hobbies but he interrupted me?.)
Interviewer- y mr adnan sami?s? is he ur fav ?
Me?yes sir, he is mine favorite. Actually I have done diploma in classical music of 3 yrs frm Chandigarh. I had been playing piano in my school times and mr. adnan sami is the fastest keyboard player in the world.
Interviewer- diploma in classical music?.explain me more abt it.
Me- In my 8th standard, I started evening classes of classical music. Pracheen Kala Kendra of Chandigarh opened a centre in our school.
Interviewer- wat r u doing to enhance ur skills in music u have learnt.
Me- actually there were 8 boys in our grp. Someone played guitar etc etc. After 10th standard, v all separated. V seldomly meet now.
Interviewer- how far is ur home town?
Me- 118 kms.
Interviewer- how many times u go to your home in an year?
Me- 2-3 times. I go there only when the semester is over and on deepawali.
Interviewer- don?t u feel home sickness?
Me- when I got into college 2.5 years back, then for a month I felt it but after that everything is alrite.
( then suddenly peon came in the room without taking his permission and take the heater along with him.
(I didn?t mention in the starting that there was a heater in the room)
Interviewer-(gusse mein) ye kya ho rha hai?
( i was very upset }
Me- sir, if u say let me enquire this.
Interviewer- no, its alrite. Puneet, name any 10 chief ministers of India.
(here I was caught. I didn?t kno this answer very well.)
Me- sir, I don?t have interest in politics.
Interviewer-ohk, tell me ur area of interest.
Me- I like programming.
(then he asked me the languages and asked 3 questions on that.
I was able to answer all the questions very well)
Interviewer-wud u like to work as a team player or a team leader?
Me- rt nw m a fresher, so I want to work as a team player because I hav no experience. When I?ll be having proper experience that is required for the team leader, I wud certainly go for that.
( again the peon came and he kept the heater again but without switching it on.
I was little bit confused. Should I ask for the permission to switch on the
heater. But then I decided not to interfere. He stood up and himself switched on the heater)
interviewer- everyone I interviewed last night, they all keep saying that I am hard working, sincere, team player, honest etc. Now you tell me wat will u say if the question is why should I pick you.
( now I was again caught by him. Then I remembered the points that I jotted down during PPT.)
me- flexibility, learnability, long term player and excellence.
Interviewer- can u explain all the points?
( I explained all the points very efficiently)
Interviewer ? here is a puzzle for u. solve it.
( he drawed some figure on the paper and askd me to solve it.
I tried it and started asking questions about it.
Then he said u r near to the soln but u r not getting it)
Interviewer- would u want to ask me anything?
Me- tell me the technology that the company is working on. Any vertical or horizontal field in which v should be gud that is expected by the company?
Interviewer- it is not like that. V?ll provide u the proper training b4 the job.
Me- ok sir,
Interviewer- now u can leave. V?ll surely get back to u.
Me- thank you sir and hav a nice day.
Interviewer-u too.
